These are polyol and isocyanate. These are thoroughly mixed with other chemicals in a high-power mixer, and the foam reaction begins immediately. Bubbles form and the mixture expands. This can be compared to the rising of bread or cake while baking. After a certain period, the reaction is completed.
Slabstock foam process: Two basic processes are used in foam production. In one, the chemical mixture is poured onto a moving conveyor where the reaction and expansion take place. On the conveyor, the foam rises like a cake, and rectangular blocks are obtained at the desired length. These blocks are kept in stock for 48 hours for curing. This production process is called the slabstock production process. After curing is completed, the foam is processed as desired. Many foams for the furniture and mattress industry are produced this way.
